Extending the idea
For those people for whom the PARINTRANS proposal is convincing, every day with hundreds of tons of CO2 expelled into the atmosphere by old-fashioned transport, every day with thousands of tons of earth removed to construct great motorways, every day with cities congested with traffic, is a day lost ecologically, economically and socially.
Is it necessary to cut away all the mountains before understanding that great forms have to be extinguished like the dinosaurs, because small ones will offer a much more complete service?
Many enterprise initiatives are lacking before we can start up the computerization of transport in the right direction. A change of mentality is urgent. Voices are needed to proclaim it in all areas; concrete scale models, programs and projects are required.
A first revolutionary, but technologically available, step is the creation of a fleet of fifteen-seater taxibuses with a flexible route, and the combination of supply and demand data by means of the agreement of trips in advance by phone or the Internet. So that a city takes that step it is necessary that some businessmen, many workers, many politicians and a large part of the public trust in its validity.
If a travel agency takes the initiative to contract door-to-door cover for every trip with its clients, it’s taking the correct step towards the future, but it assumes the pioneers’ risk. It has to fight against the current for a time, and to fight against the current it is necessary to understand the goal very clearly.
It is important to convince many people, from advertising, managerial, intellectual or political spheres, who can influence the decision making that affects the future of transport. Also it is important to coordinate efforts.
